I'm baaack! With some Dandy Nails!

Hello everyone!

Can I just say that I am so sorry to have been gone as long as I was! I recently moved, and it's been a busy and hectic time. On top of that, we had little furniture, so finding a place to paint my nails/take pictures was difficult.

Thankfully, I'm back right in time for the holidays to show you this awesome polish from Dandy Nails' winter collection. On Black Friday, I did a bit of nail polish splurging thanks to all of the deals, and I tried to limit my purchases from each brand. From Dandy Nails, I got Cashmere Night, which is a matte polish with blue flakes.

2 coats Cashmere Night, no top coat:

I can't tell you how much I loved this polish! It is so perfect for winter in either its matte or top coat shiny form. It applied super easily, which is impressive for a matte polish. Note that the camera of course picked up a bald spot on my ring finger, but it was not noticeable in real life!

Here's 2 coats of Cashmere Night with 1 coat of Seche Vite:

I like the subtlety of the blue flakes in the matte version, but I love how they pop when you add a top coat.

I'm glad that out of all of the Dandy Nails polishes in the winter collection, I picked this one, but I still really want to get my hands on Chilled Down!

Dandy Nails can be purchased from their Etsy shop or from Ninja Polish (where I got mine to combine on shipping). Keep up to date with Dandy Nails on Facebook!

Mentality Metallics

I have a new-to-me indie brand to show off today, and I have to say I am so beyond impressed. I took part in a little Black Friday nail polish binging shopping, and Mentality had an offer for free shipping. This was a pretty awesome deal because these are THE cheapest indies you will find. I can almost guarantee you that. They have the metallics I'm about to show you for $6.00 and holos for $8.00. Yes. Holos. $8. I know, right.

I didn't get any of the holos because I was trying to limit myself, but after seeing the quality of these, I wish I had.

I didn't use top coat for any of these because I liked the semi-matte finish they all had. It was an almost textured finish that kind of reminded me of suede polishes, but not really... You'll see what I mean. All of the polishes contained gold flakes that gave them a little dimension.

First up, we have Mentality Crave, 2 coats, no top coat:

Crave is a pink metallic with gold flakes that was my surprise favorite of the bunch. It reminds me of rose gold, which seems to be popping up everywhere this season. I just love this. Easy application and really fast drying time too!

Mentality Desire, two coats, no top coat:

Since Desire is already orange, the gold flakes don't show up quite as much in this one, but that wasn't a huge deal. The texture is still there, and without macro camera settings, the gold flakes aren't as noticeable in real life anyways. Again, great application and dry time. A lot of times when I wear things without top coat, I get worried because without fast dry top coat I always ding my nails, but this wasn't a problem.

Mentality Covet, two coats, no top coat:

Covet is a great muted foresty green. This was my second favorite out of the bunch. It's just so season appropriate, and warm-toned greens make me happy.

All in all, these polishes are awesome. I don't think I can say this enough, you will not find any indies with better quality for this price! I mean, what with the free shipping, they are practically giving it away ;)

The free shipping is still going on, too! You can buy Mentality polishes from their Big Cartel store or their Etsy store. Keep up with them on facebook for info on their shops!

RBL Love

I just received my pre-order from Rescue Beauty Lounge containing Insouciant, Aqua Lily, Starfish Patrick, and Bruised. The former three are all Bring it Back polishes, and the latter has been one I've been eying for some time. Be still, my heart.

I oohed and ahhed over them all as I opened the box, and then I hemmed and hawed over which color to wear first.

And then I ended up taking out all of my RBL polishes and looking at those too. Isn't it weird how the polish brain works? And then I organized them by collection release and color. Whatever.

Anyways, I settled on Insouciant, but I realized I also had pictures somewhere of some other RBL shades. So, each of my post will contain a "new" (or brought back) shade and an "old" shade so I can get some of these pictures outta the way.

First up, Insouciant, 2 coats with top coat:

Insouciant is a great greyish purple (grurple?) with a sexy blue shimmer. See that shimmer in the first picture? Yum. It applied easily and precisely and lasted without a chip for 2 days (long time for my soft nails). I think this is THE perfect winter color.

Next up, there Bikini Bottom, which is one of the colors from the Spongebob series. 3 1/2 coats, no top coat:

Bikini Bottom is a pale blue jelly. This color is just stunning. While it takes a while to reach opacity, I think that's kind of the point. It's just so soft and feminine looking. The first 2 coats were a tiny bit patchy, but the third coat evened everything out perfectly. If you wanted this to reach its full blue-ness, you could always layer it over white too!

Insouciant ($20) will be available with the rest of the BiB4 colors on the Rescue Beauty site starting Wednesday at noon. Bikini Bottom ($18) is available now.

I think that out of all of my nail polishes, my RBLs are some of my favorites. It's really the only high end brand that solely focuses on nail polish, which means it's inevitably flawless every time.

Essie She's Pampered Mani

Anyone who knows me knows that I really, really like the show New Girl. It's a hilarious show on Fox, and last week was the Thanksgiving episode. In this episode, Jess wears this great red dress. My mani today is dedicated to that red dress (pictured below).

This was the best picture I could find of it, but I really liked it!

Here's what I got:

essie she's pampered matte mani
This is 2 coats of Essie She's Pampered, matte, with a stripe of China Glaze Liquid Leather. This was the only picture that really turned out, and now that I look at it I guess you could say it's loosely inspired by that dress ;).

Here's a glimpse of 2 coats of Essie She's Pampered without top coat:

essie she's pampered swatchessie she's pampered swatch

She's Pampered is a great wintery red. It's a tad muted, and I've seen other bloggers say that it's cool-toned, but it leans warmer on me. It applied well, but at two coats there's still slight visible nail line. If that bothers you, go for three!

And here's a peek at it matte (Hard Candy Matte Top Coat):

This is also great matte. I think it really helps to bring out the richness of the red.

She's Pampered is from Essie's Winter 2012 collection. You can get it from Target or Ulta for about $7.99, or if you're buying enough to save on shipping - from Transdesign (my favorite etailer) for $5.95. In fact, I have Beyond Cozy, Where's My Chauffeur, and Butler Please on their way to me as we speak, so you'll be seeing those soon!

Whimsical Ideas By Pam - Georgia Peach Fuzz

Hello everyone!

I guess I'm still on a bit of an orange kick from yesterday, so here's Whimsical Ideas by Pam Georgia Peach Fuzz. This was actually the first polish from Pam that I absolutely had to have, and it was one of my first indies.

I used 3-4 coats for this polish. In the bottle you expect it to be a great pastel orange, but since the polish is more of a jelly, it applied and looked more like a nude until the third or fourth coat. In fact, I bet it would look great over a base of nude polish with 1 or 2 coats.

It applied really great, and the only reason I used so many coats was to increase the opacity. It wasn't really streaky at all.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam polishes are super easy to purchase. The process is explained on her facebook, but here's a quick rundown. You shoot her an email with what you want at pea422000@yahoo.com. She will invoice you ASAP. This turn around time can vary based on new collection releases, holidays, etc. For example, right now she just released an awesome new holiday collection, so expect to wait a few days. A lot of the time it's next day invoicing. Once you pay, she will ship your order via super speedy shipping anywhere within the US. Super easy!!

Go tigers! Some Rainbow Honey-style Clemson spirit

Hello everyone!

What a wonderful football Saturday it is. I got to see my Patriots win BIG on Thursday, and tonight Clemson plays South Carolina at home in Death Valley. I won't be there, of course, but I will be watching and repping my team with some serious orange love.

Of course, my nails couldn't be left out of this equation.

I was going to get fancy with these, but there was so much good football on today, I was in a rush.

Here's a coat of  Rainbow Honey The Element of Magic over Zoya Suri and 2 coats of RH Hoof Wrassle over piCture pOlish popsicle (all with extra top coat):

clemson mani

I don't think I can say enough good things about these Rainbow HOney polishes. Effortless application, huge glitter and shimmer payoff, and original mixes. I think this may be one of my favorite indie brands, but it's one that I don't own a lot of, which is weird.

Element of Magic has an awesome pink shimmer in it with iridescent blue glitters and purple hexes. Hoof Wrassle has an orange base with gold shimmer and lots of gold and orange glitters. So pretty!

In case you were curious about the undies, here ya go: 3 coats of piCture pOlish popsicle and 2 coats of Zoya Suri:

I think these colors look great together, and I actually wore them like this for a while before I went back and added glitter.

Both of these Rainbow Honey polishes are from the Equestria collection and are available at their shop for $10.00. Keep up with them on facebook for news!

Throwback Thursday - Enchanted Polish Ocean Potion

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I am so thankful for my wonderful family (whom I wish I could be with today), my boyfriend, and all of YOU! You guys who read this blog are awesome! I was thinking on what to post today, and I was kind of stumped. Typical Thanksgiving colors like brown, green, red, orange weren't really what I was feeling. So instead, I have a bit of a throwback for you.

This is Enchanted Polish Ocean Potion, which is currently out of production; HOWEVER, tomorrow Llarowe is stocking a new line of EP linear holos, the Ho Ho Holoday collection, plus Ballerina Sprinkles, Austin Powers, and Hot Chocolate! Are you excited? I plan to pick up at least Ballerina Sprinkles...

Anyway, here is 2 coats of  Ocean Potion over CND Sticky:

This is all in artificial lighting. I could have waited for sunlight this morning, but holos chip so quickly on me and I wanted pictures of the unchipped version. Let's just say that in the sunlight the holo is much more visible and linear.

The great thing about all of EP's holos is that they are no fuss. No need for any kind of aqua base, easy application, awesome rainbows. They're just great.

So I'm sorry for showing you guys a polish you can't have, but the good news is that there are new awesome holos that you can have very soon. Just get your refresh button ready.
